FAQ
When should I book my maternity session?
I usually recommend booking your maternity session between 28–33 weeks – this is often the sweet spot where your bump is beautifully round, you’re still feeling comfortable, and there’s time to reschedule if the weather doesn’t play nice. That said, every pregnancy is different. If it’s your second (or third!) you might be showing earlier, so 27–30 weeks could be ideal. If you’d prefer a bigger bump, 33–36 weeks might suit you better.
Ideally, we’ll schedule your session before 36 weeks just in case baby decides to come early – or if any late-pregnancy swelling starts to kick in. Left it a little late? No worries at all – we’ll find a spot for you and make it happen! I keep plenty of flexibility for date changes too, especially during the winter and spring months.
How long WILL BE SESSION TAKE?
Most sessions run for around 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the type of shoot. That said, there’s no stopwatch – I like to keep things flexible so we can take our time, especially if there are outfit changes, snack breaks, or little ones who need a moment. The aim is to create a relaxed atmosphere where you never feel rushed and we can capture the magic as it naturally unfolds.
What should I wear during my session?
Think about where we're shooting first – your location sets the tone. Neutral earthy tones and pastels work beautifully outdoors, while brighter shades can be striking in the right setting. Solid colours are a safe bet – they keep the attention on you and blend well with backgrounds.
Above all, dress true to yourself. Comfort and authenticity show through in the photos. Layering with textured fabrics like knits, denim, or flowy linens adds visual interest and dimension. Avoid busy prints, bold logos, and overly shiny materials – they tend to distract.
If you’d like some variety, especially for a maternity session, feel free to bring a change of outfit. A second look is a great way to capture a different mood during your session.
Do you offer packages?
Yes, I offer a special rate when booking multiple sessions together – perfect if you're planning something like a maternity shoot followed by a family session. You'll receive 10% off the lower-priced session when both are booked at the same time. It’s a beautiful way to document your journey with consistency and care.
What happens if it’s raining?
If the weather isn’t playing nice, we’ll simply reschedule to a new date that works for you – I always keep some flexibility in my calendar for this reason, especially during the rainier months. For most indoor sessions, we can still go ahead unless it’s looking particularly gloomy, which can make it too dark to capture the beautiful natural light images I specialise in.
